Welcome to the student chapter of Amnesty International at the University of Texas!
The mission of Texas Amnesty International is to raise awareness about international human rights issues by promoting AIUSA’s campaigns through advocacy and activism on the UT campus and in the greater Austin community.
How Amnesty International officially describes itself:
We work to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth and dignity are denied. Currently the world’s largest grassroots human rights organization, we investigate and expose abuses, educate and mobilize the public, and help transform societies to create a safer, more just world. We received the Nobel Peace Prize for our life-saving work.
We too are dedicated to helping those whose voices are unable to be heard. Whether it be writing a letter of protest for a prisoner of conscience or handing out petitions, we want to spread awareness and effect change at UT’s campus and beyond.
Anyone can make a difference. Big or small, it will lead to progress for the betterment of human rights.
We would love to answer any questions you have about the Amnesty International chapter here at UT Austin.
