Hi Activists! As the semester winds down we still have a couple events to celebrate and take study breaks with us! This Tuesday, December 3rd, we won’t have our 7pm meeting in PAR. But our Write for Rights Event is Wednesday, December 4th, 6-8pm! We will have it in the SAC 3.112! There will be pizza and writing letters to help Prisoners of Conscience!
Also as a relaxing celebration of the end, during the Monday dead day, December 9th, we will have brunch at Ana and Hannah’s house! Cooking starts around 11 am and eating at noon! Please join us!

Amnesty International is the world's largest human rights organization and we here at UT are passionate about spreading the ideals of equality and justice. Originally founded in London in 1961, Amnesty International focuses on drawing attention to human rights abuses worldwide and starts different campaigns to promote its ideals. Since its inception, Amnesty has become recognized all over the world as the leading human rights organization and has won a multitude of awards such as the Nobel Peace Prize and the UN Prize in the Field of Human Rights. Amnesty members exert pressure on governments, political bodies, companies and intergovernmental groups to promote justice. There are seven key ares in which Amnesty focuses on:
Women's Rights
Children's Rights
Ending Torture
Abolition of the death penalty
Rights of Refugees
Rights of Prisoners of Conscience
Protection of Human dignity
The UT chapter is dedicated to helping those whose voices are unable to be heard. Whether it be writing a letter of protest for a prisoner of conscience or handing out petitions, we want to spread awareness all around UT's campus and beyond.
Anyone can make a difference. Whether is it big or small, it will lead to progress for the betterment of human rights.
